Surfer Paradise ( usually just called “Surfers” to the locals ) is Australia’s most popular beach holiday centre. It has always attracted generations of Australian and overseas visitors to its golden beaches , holiday attractions and laid back lifestyle . The climate is pleasant with temperates that even in winter attract southerners wanting to escape the winter chills of the southern states.
The beaches are the jewel in the crown of the Gold Coast and Surfers is the hub of it all . With rolling swells for board riders , and safe patrolled beach conditions for bathers, Surfers Paradise is renowned as one of the worlds great beach holiday destinations . Powder soft golden-white sand that squeakes underfoot, crystal clear water , surf life saving patrols and first class bather facilities make the beaches at Surfers a real treat. Surfers Paradise has always been a popular site for surf carnivals and Ironman competitions.
The high rises of Surfers provide a major contribution to the Gold Coast accommodation needed to meet the holiday demand in the peak seasons . Hundreds of resorts and apartment blocks of all shapes and sizes parallel the beachfront, and nearly all of them offer Gold Coast apartments that are fully self contained and equipped for self catering holidays . While Surfers has traditional hotel style accommodation , by far the majority of Surfers Paradise accommodation is of the self contained apartment variety .
There is no shortage of options for dining out in Surfers. At one time there were more restaurants per sq km in Surfers than anywhere else in Australia. Surfers Paradise is much more of an “action” destination than other Gold Coast centres , with no shortage of things to do and places to go . The Gold Coast theme parks are all within easy reach and day trips to the Gold Coast hinterland always make an enjoyable break from the sun, sand and surf.
Travel time from the Gold Coast airport at Coolangatta is approximately 30 minutes and it takes around 1hr 15 minutes for the drive to and from Brisbane airport. An Airtrain service connects Brisbane with the Gold Coast and Nerang is the station nearest to Surfers Paradise.
So if the Gold Coast is your preference for the next family vacation, you’ll find it hard to make a better choice that Surfers Paradise!
