Does volunteering in Nairobi appeal to you? How about participating in some volunteering abroad? Volunteering in Africa has been a popular pastime with many people for over 30 years now. There is now more people than ever signing up to volunteer in Africa due to a number of fundamental reasons. The cost of flying to the poorest continent in the world has dropped significantly as competition has risen between airlines. More areas of Africa are becoming ever more easily accessible due to further exploration and technology advances. Media coverage of far flung places is also becoming more and more frequent opening up a whole new world for people who want to participate in volunteering.

There are many ways and reasons people want to volunteer. Not only is it a great opportunity to visit another country which is probably very different to your own, but its a great chance to see new cultures and traditions, taste new foods meet new people. Most of us thrive on helping other people out, to see the look of satisfaction and appreciation on someone less fortunate than your self’s face is a great feeling and makes your time there worthwhile.

There is such a huge, diverse range of volunteer activities to become involved with from working with HIV/AIDS orphans to teaching English to street children. This is volunteering main pull factor and the main reasons so many participate year in year out. It is an experience which also sets you up very well for the future. Employers are encouraged to employ people who have good experience in various sectors and not just good academic grades.  The volunteering experience will put you head and shoulders above your competitors and possibly straight into the career of your choice.

The steps to the experience of a lifetime are quite simple. All you need to do is choose a volunteer project which takes your fancy. Pick a volunteer company that you think is trustworthy and ensure you are safe on your trip and you will be away. Volunteering is one of the best experiences around today so get out there and do it.
